Primal Attack

Bio :

The year of 2012 witnessed the rising of Primal Attack, band originally formed by guitarist Miguel Tereso with Pica (Seven Stitches) on vocals. After a few demos recorded they decided to go ahead with the project, and soon the bassist Miguel Miranda and guitarist Tiago Câmara (Spoiled Fiction) joined the boat. Some months later the band found the missing drummer Miguel Ferreira completing the final lineup. Primal Attack is preparing the debut album for the second half of the year.

Black Bombaim

Coming from the unexpected musically prolific small city of Barcelos, Black Bombaim are three guys that grew up together exchanging records, amidst bucolic landscapes of portuguese countryside and excessive drug experiences, playing outer-space jams, from planets yet to be discovered.

Taking Sleep’s Dopesmoker as a reference, today’s Black Bombaim are more than just heavy drugs. A little like medical marijuana, the trio formed by Tojo Rodrigues, Paulo Senra and Ricardo Miranda knows the origins of the word “psychedelia”, after sharing the stage with the likes of Kyuss Lives, White Hills, Radio Moscow, Electric Wizard, Russian Circles, Gnod, Notorious Hi Fi Killers or more recently, the catalan psych act CUZO.

If “Saturdays and Space Travels” (Lovers & Lollypops, 2010) already foreseen great journeys, “Titans” – recorded in Meifumado Studios and mastered at Golden Mastering (Melvins, Sonic Youth, Om) in California – is the confirmation of a band that lives from the strenght and determination of surgical improvisation, the ambience of a doped up bass, the power of reckless drumming and wailing fuzz-wah drenched guitars and keys.

Bio :

O CLAUSTRO is a band from Lisboa, Portugal that mixes heavy experimental music with philosophical lyrics written in portuguese and black and white conceptual imagery. It started in early 2009 with João Maia Henriques and Jorge Gonçalves's search for band members that could relate to the project's ambitions. In December 2012 the formation closed with Vasco Marques on bass and André Baptista on drums. Today O CLAUSTRO is planning to release it's first studio EP - TU DEVES in early January, 2014 and promote it.

After seeing their first work considered as the Best Experimental Demo in 1999 by Prémios Maqueta awards, Fat Freddy released their first original album in 2003 called" Fanfarras de Ópio'. There was an overwhelmingly positive reception from audiences and critics and the trio toured the country. Three years later, as a 'duo machine', Fat Freddy released the second chapter of their discography, 'the unnamed album', which included a highly acclaimed version of "Das Model", from Kraftwerk. Now, via Honeysound, 'Atirem o meu Cadáver para uma Valeta' single, where the band explores writen and spoken word, after two instrumental albums. 'Morte Gélida em Fernandes Tomás'' is part II of a narrative of life in four chapters. The full lenght album will be released in the autumn of 2013.

Mau Amigo

Bio :

Mau Amigo is a project based in Monção (Portugal) . In 2010 they released a demo, edited by Honeysound and since then they've had several gigs. In October 2011 they released the first EP "Kids on Khat" with five tracks again by Honeysound and with distribution by Compact Records.

Icon and The Black Roses

What we know today to be the band Icon and The Black Roses started four years ago when Johnny decided to start his own band in 1999. He met David, the band's former drummer and together they started “Blue Obsession”. During this period they had a hard time finding suitable elements for the band and after several people coming in and out of the band, Johnny and David decided to record a demo anyways. Together they went to Espinha, who was a good friend of Johnny's since childhood, and they started recording a demo at his place. In the meantime Luis (keyboard player) and Ana (singer) joined the band in time to record their parts in songs like “Remember” and “No More” . The demo called “4 Winter Songs” took six months to record.

Soon after the recordings were finished, the band decided to send the demo all over Europe . Later on they would sign a deal with Dark-Wings records. In the meantime, and having the demo in their hands, Sean Rose joined the band after a glamorous audition. Within months, Dark-Wings were demanding a 5 Track CD to be edited in Germany . So the band went into their own studio, which they acquired soon after signing the deal, and recorded 5 tracks (including Black Cage and Dreams and Silver Tears) mixed by Charlie Bauerfiend in Tenerife. In the meantime Sebastian was looking for a band after getting out of a Black Metal band that collapsed soon after his departure. So, he heard of Blue Obsession and decided he was the right guitar player for the band. With this new formation the band decided to call itself “ICON”.

Time went by with the band preparing their live shows but after a while our big friend David left the band and Mike Thorne replaced him (after a successful show of wrecking drumsticks). When the EP was ready, the label then decided it didn't have any commercial value as it was only a 5 tracks CD. So this EP was never released. They decided it was time to record a real album and Tommy Newton was the producer for that. So the band recorded 4 tracks in Lisbon with Tommy Newton (which included songs like Crucify you love and Angel), unfortunately there was no chance of working with him for the final production. The label picked Michael Gerlach for the production, he did it with Max Devil and the band. It was later mixed by Espinha and Max. During this process Luis left the band and Ana was dismissed. So the band took a long journey to find a new keyboard player, and the female vocals would be sung by Johnny himself whenever he had an identity crisis. Did I say long? ok it took them one week and “Adam the master of keyboards” Nox joined the band. After this love and hate stories the band decided to finally change their name to “Icon and The Black Roses” and are now ready to spread Glitter, Metal and Roses all over the world.

The Quartet of Woah!

Born in 2010, Lisbon based rock band, The Quartet of Woah! Are Gonçalo Kotowicz (LunaSeaSane, Nicorette, Melange), Rui Guerra (Melange), Miguel Costa (Blasted Mechanism, LunaSeaSane, Zorg) and André Gonçalves (Philharmonic Weed). Taking their musical differences as an advantage to build a unique rock sound, the band board on a musical journey with the self-titled album: “Ultrabomb” bringing out the best and worst in them to make songs about ambition, deception, politics and war.

Moonspell is a Portuguese heavy metal band. Formed in 1992, the group released their first EP Under the Moonspell in 1994, a year before the release of their first album Wolfheart. The band quickly gained status and became one of the most recognizable metal bands from Portugal.

Moonspell reached the Portuguese top first with their album Sin/Pecado, and were, along with Metallica and Iron Maiden, the only metal band to reach the first place of the Portuguese charts after the release of their album, Memorial, in 2006. With Memorial, Moonspell also became the first Portuguese heavy metal band to have a record certified gold status.They are also very popular in Germany, where Memorial entered at 68th in the Top 100 Chart.

Mão Morta

Mão Morta is a Portuguese avant-garde rock band that started its activities in 1985 in Braga. The group's name means "dead hand", based on a traditional Portuguese nursery rhyme. They are generally considered to be one of the most important bands in the Portuguese rock scene. Since the start of their career, the bands' live concerts became famous for their intensity and dark mood, due to their signature alternative rock sound and the performance of vocalist Adolfo Luxúria Canibal (a pseudonym, meaning Adolph Cannibal Lust), known for occasional onstage theatrics and his growling, half-sung, half-spoken singing style. Mão Morta's music is quite difficult to categorize as they seem to incorporate a variety of genres; from punk rock, metal, to industrial and experimental. Their sound, combined with Adolfo's lyrics, reflects urban violence, a human search for pleasure, freedom and a critique of contemporary consumerist society, often with sarcastic humour.
